Best Ads of 2011

Adverts have become over the years, something to mean a lot more than just a boring way to sell a product. They are now given the same budget, teams, and finance as if it were like a short film. Adverts have always been controversial. In the 60’s they were notoriously known for their misogyny, racism, homophobia, as well as being misleading.

When it comes to advertising, the purpose of it is to make the potential buyer happy. As we all know, advertisers are immoral people since they with sleight of hand, urge the customer to buy something they don’t really need. It must be given to them, since there is an art in rhetoric, to convince the customer to enjoy the product before they have actually bought it. As Don Draper says in Mad Men: ‘Advertising is based on one thing: happiness. And do you know what happiness is? Happiness is the smell of a new car. It’s freedom from fear. It’s a billboard on the side of a road that screams with reassurance that whatever you’re doing is OK. You are OK’.
