Music Watch: Kano – Jack Bauer 2.4

The end of 2011 was impressive for Kano, most notably for his critically acclaimed role in gritty drama Top Boy which was shown on Channel 4. The East London rapper saw his television debut go down a storm, and keeping his momentum the Jack Bauer 2.4 mixtape was released. Listen and Download after the cut.

Jack Bauer 2.4 is the follow up to the 2010 mixtape Jack Bauer, released promptly as promised on new years day! Track 1 starts with a look back at a selection of tracks from previous mixtapes and then the show begins. Happy New Fuckin’ Year is a good start and a track where Kano switches up his flow throughout the track. I also love the 24 references throughout the album, definitely add to the project and go with the lyrical content well.

Ballin’ Habit is a shot at all the grime rappers claiming to be living the life and who aren’t on his swagger level yet. Mr Miyagi is a brashful statement to the industries new guns as well as re-instating Kano’s position as one of the best while the others remain ‘Daniel Sans’. The mixtape also shows Kano have his own take on some of 2011’s best known beats, Lord Knows and The Motto (Take Care – Drake), Earthquake (Labrinth), all which he does very well.

The mixtape is very good and will be going on my iPod pretty soon, Kano is definitely one of the best to ever do it in terms of UK garage/grime and even if he’s not in the mainstream top charts, he can still produce amazing songs for his fans to appreciate and enjoy. Who knows what 2012 is going to be bring for Kano, Films or Music, he is in the privileged position where he can choose… but whatever he decides you know he’ll smash it!

Peace Out…
