Flashback Friday: B2K

While looking through my music B2K were spotted and instant flashbacks to younger days. Putting on their songs just makes me remember listening to them on the radio and trying to record their songs onto tape! The band enjoyed international success especially on both sides of the Atlantic.

2001 saw the rise of the band, Lil’ Fizz, J-Boog, Raz-B and Omarion came together under the management of Chris Stokes (super producer). First album was self entitled and included hits such as Uh Huh which instantly put them at the forefront of the r’n’b industry at the time.

By 2002 they had girls going crazy and I guess appropriately named Pandemonium came out. First single to be released from this hit album was Bump Bump Bump, the Diddy/P.Diddy/Puff Daddy assisted record. Other hits such as Girlfriend ensured this album was a huge hit with fans.

2004 saw B2K’s biggest challenge, the movie You Got Served, produced by their manager Chris Stokes. The band saw themselves playing a dance crew who were taking part in a street dance competition, the movie was a huge success and went straight in at No#1. B2K also provided the soundtrack, the lead single from it Badaboom saw a feature from rapper Fabolous which became the OST for the movie.

The movie was one of the bands last ventures together and in 2004 they split and went their separate ways. Most of them tried solo careers but I think the one to really succeed by himself was lead vocalist of the band Omarion. He released 3 albums, 2 solo and one collaborative album with Bow Wow Face Off which went onto sell 500,000 copies.

This will probably be a weekly post on Fridays so make sure you keep it locked!

Peace Out…
