MTV’s ‘Hottest MC In The Game’

Now this list was bound to cause some controversy and I needed to remind myself constantly it was based on 2011! The winner was Rick Ross which I have no complaints with whatsoever, Rozay has had an amazing year especially with most recently suffering 2 seizures and then releasing one of the hottest mixtapes with Rich Forever. 2012 also looks to be a big year for Ross with God Forgives, I Don’t being released in the coming months and his ever expanding Untouchable Maybach Music Group dominating airwaves. My problem is that Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj numbers 4 and 5 (you can see the top 10 after the cut) are above Mr Carter…

Lil Wayne released the highly anticipated Tha Carter IV which despite its incredible record sales it just didn’t have the same impact as its predecessor and was seen for many as a flop! There was no defining hit which you could identify with the album 6”7” had very little impact across the board.

Nicki Minaj… the Barbie of YMCMB actually released Pink Friday in 2010 and in 2011 featured on a handful of remixes and after her recent Stupid Hoe video I personally would like to see her banned from any further lists.

Now onto Sean ‘Jay Z’ Carter who featured with Kanye West on the hugely successful Watch The Throne album and tour, this was an album that had the same if not more hype than Lil Wayne’s, as 2 of Hip-Hop’s heavyweights collide for the album, and the result was pretty epic and was definitely one of my favourite albums of the year. Jay Z showed the industry that he was still a major MC and the songs spoke for themselves. I can kind of bring myself round to saying Lil Wayne ok for some people he had a better year but Nicki Minaj?!?!? Anyway enough ranting and have a look at the top 10… what do you think?

1 Rick Ross

2 Drake

3 Kanye West

4 Nicki Minaj

5 Lil Wayne

6 Jay-Z

7 Meek Mill

8 Big Sean
