Touch: Another New TV Series
I didn’t know that Touch existed before today but I heard my brother and cousin talking about it. “It’s about a kid who doesn’t talk but is really good with numbers and is able to predict the future”. Alright… let’s give it a go.
Somehow, Sky Anytime got set up (don’t ask me how to do it – TV is too complex nowadays) and soon enough episode 1 of season 1 was underway.
A familiar face immediately props up – Kiefer Sutherland (of 24 fame) and a weird kid who has a book full of numbers – it looks promising. Something a bit more intelligent than Keeping Up With the Kardashians or whatever drivel folks watch these days.
Without going into too much detail (and ruining the story set up for you guys), the first episode brings together various people from around the world (on American TV, that can only be in the US, Britain and Iraq – surprise surprise about the level of diversity there) and brings them together through this mute boy who is apparently a genius with numbers… He’s able to predict the future and knows what’ll happen. The only problem is a) he’s a kid and b) he hasn’t spoken to anyone, not even his father, since his mother died in the twin tower attacks on September 11th.
Considering that House is now finishing, I need something else to keep my intelligence sane on TV and Touch seems to, on initial impressions, fit the bill.
No shoddy actors and a bit of mystique like the Lost saga means that it’s right up my street for weekly viewing.
