Muhammed Ali x Louis Vuitton
Louis Vuitton started their Icon campagin in 2007, every year different leading iconic figures from around the world are asked to lead the brands marketing campaign. There has been Pelé, musician Keith Richards and recently actress Angelina Jolie has also held this prestigious title.
This year it is the turn of one of the greatest sports personalities of all time, Muhammed Ali. Pictured above can be seen the image that will be in all fashion magazines starting from the 14th June. In it depicts Ali seated, while his Grandson (Curtis Muhammad Conway Jr, son of Laila Ali ) is pictured next to him sporting some retro boxing gloves and a pair of converse.
Depicted is a great image of grandfather and grandson and a memory that will stay with them for the rest of their lives probably. Louis Vuitton is trying to show that no matter where or what you are doing, it is there with you by its side. ‘By its side’ referring to the Louis Vuitton “Keepall 50” bag ($1525) carefully placed on the side of Ali. It is the ultimate accessory for the ultimate man.
For me personally I love the imagery, the great Ali doing ordinary things like playing with his grandson, this grandson in particular was specially requested to be in the advert by Ali’s wife Lonnie Ali as she said “The two share a special bond,”. The Wall Street Journal also included her saying “Of all the grandchildren, C.J. looks the most like Muhammad. And he even acts like him.”.
