Jamuna: A Play
Theatre Folk in partnership with Purbanat, present JAMUNA: a story of woman in war and peace and the source of her art, written by Selina Shelley. Shown at The Drum on Sunday 26th August, this play is sure to carry a cathartic storm with it, telling the inspirational story of a woman who strives to pursue her art whilst living in hard times. Dealing with themes imprisonment, sexual assault, trauma; this play is a gritty tale of liberation, exploring the effect war has on women, their sexuality and social life. Although the story focuses on Bangladesh in 1971, it is an issue even faced by the women of today.
